About the New Aiyepe Central Mosque

Brief History of the New Aiyepe Central Mosque

As the Muslim population grew, there arose the need for a more admirable and befitting central mosque for the town and this brought the idea of reconstructing the first central mosque at Aba-Aiyepe Ijebu.

This was during the tenure of the fourth Chief Imam of the town, Alhaji Junaid Olayiwola Badejo. The desired to have a central mosque with multi-purpose activities led to the siting of the new central mosque to the present location at Odogbolu Road, AiyepeIjebu. It was also agreed that the first Aiyepe Central Mosque will be converted to a citadel of learning Arabic and Islamic studies in future.

The New Ultra Modern Central Mosque was built between 1987 and 1992 and has been in use since then.

During the official commissioning of the New Aiyepe Central Mosque on 27th April, 2014, His Eminence, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar (GCFR), the Sultan of Sokoto adjudged the mosque as one of the biggest in the country.
